Hello, all

Well, it's been a year. A long, sometimes turbulent, sometimes exciting and interesting year. The perverbial ups and downs were there, but knowing that more ups are to come than downs, it makes day to day a lot more bearable.

I haven't written for a week now, and I think that's okay. We spent the day in Omaha at the children's museum and went to his favorite restaurant, the spaghetti works. We were actually at the museum for 5 hours! They had a huge Clifford exhibit that the kids could play on.

I miss him...he would have had fun....

oooooo...

They move out at 18, right? Is 14 too early to start a countdown!?!?!

Writing with them is amazing. If my head leaves the pillow, they all wake up. If the phone rings, they all seem to answer and hold a conversation with me as if they are the ones who called me! IF my hands make a single tap on the keyboard, everyone needs to talk, sing, show me something or have glass in their foot! (I don't mind stopping for that one... I guess).

Okay so the Egyptian is watching the Israelites leave the city, what is he thinking?

No, it is not-"No, Noah, you may not get on the treadmill!"

Ah.....

Writing. Somehow I found time for writing! Between beds, laundry, vacation Bible school, teething, trash, etc..., somehow I found time to get Josie a little closer to the unnamed town and closer to her fate.

Now, about the other story. Anybody know any good Egyptian names? I know it seems odd, but the site is having a different anthology at the end of the year and will take submissions until October. Woo-hoo!

Anywhooo, it is now time for me to hit the hay and try to get a jump start on tomorrow.

I wish I could wake up and the entire house not discover it as soon as my head leaves the pillow!

Bye

before the parade passes by....

The Fair was here! The birds and the beasts were there. So were my daughters for most of it. They actually got to be in the parade for Redeemer.

Writing, writing, writing.....Oh, yeah! How does that happen, again? I remember, you get time to sit down and not have three boys climbing over you and then you think without being asked why is the sky blue.

I'll tyr again tomorrow.

Bye

Hmmm...

Well, I have slacked off and have nothing to write today. I am just not in the mood. I guess I should still write even though I don't feel like it, but I just can't. I guess I won't be writing tomorrow either. The County Fair is in town and the parade is tomorrow right in front of my house. Between church, the parade and kids who will inevitably end up hopped up on sugar from the candy they throw, I think we can cancel out tomorrow.

I don't know, is anybody actually reading this?

Oh, well......

Okay. I like the way this is going. I have gotten a new name from 'info'. Josie is a great name for the character because it gives you this saucy kind of Josie and the Pussycat feel while also being a touch masuline somehow.

I will put in an excerpt tomorrow because it is so very late tonight! I was able to edit at least today.

I always wonder how established writers ever get anything done. The ones that have kids must hide in their bathrooms on the side of the tub to be able to type for any length of time and concentrate! The one year old screaming ma ma through the door is enough to make me forget how to type half of the time.

Maybe someday he'll take a nap and I can try it then.....

TOO SIMILAR

TOO SIMILAR!!!!! AAARRRGGGHHHH!!! Since this is the tail-end for submissions to be in (actually past the end date) it was too similar to one they had previously accepted for the same anthology so they had to pass on it!

AH, well, se' la vive! I will just keep continuing on the work on the doll story for EQ and just finish it up.

Okay, can anyone think of anything scarier on a doll than Queen Anne's lace. Especially when the main character ends up wearing it.

Bye!

Well....

So, writing from three different sources and trying to combine them into one story was a bad idea. It's a good thing that Ellery Queen has no deadline!

Still waiting on someone to give me THE name. The name that will make me like my character again.

Also, I sent off a second story to the Bloody Carnival. Ewwww! That does sound gross doesn't it?

I also contacted my editor regarding the second children's book. Haven't heard from him yet, but probably won't until Monday anyway.

Got any ideas about cowboy sci-fi? No idea on my end.

Bye!

Ay!

Well, not much writing getting done today. I had one sick little guy with a goo gab o' teeth coming in and nowhere to go but my lap. I tell you, I was glad for the cuddle.

I am determined to catch up tomorrow, though. Oh! And I heard of another contest in September that you only get twenty-four hours to write the story after you receive instructions on what the content is, etc.. I thought that would be cool so I signed up!

Hope you all had a good one. Be glad teething is a thing of the past (depending on how old you are)!

I did it....

I did it! I submitted for the first time in over two years, but I did it! Granted, it is a horror magazine, but I'm flexible (note, not moldable).

I actually think this blog thing is helping. I wish there were more people reading it, but, oh well. I guess it takes time.

Even if it isn't all that exciting, knowing someone out there is reading it makes me feel more accountable. Like I have to write. I also use it as me 'cool down' time when i have finished writing for the day.

Wait, I guess I very well couldn't write a blog about my daily writing if I wrote it before the writing actually took place, could I?

Next is more work on the Mr. Ellery Queen submission!

Bye!

Another bean on the plate....

Okay, making huge progress, here. Wrote for another three hours today. I forgot how much I enjoyed doing it.

I guess when there are only so many hours in the day you just don't get time to miss doing anything. Especially when you come to value the concept of not doing anything.

I also have started a short story for a different magazine with a sooner deadline. I thought that if there was anything to get my feet wet with it would be this. It is for a horror magazine. This should be fun!

Since I have no name suggestions yet I think I will just give them tentative names and go from there.

Wish me luck!
